Lyon's main attractions

A regular award-winner, Lyon has built a reputation as one of Europe’s most attractive urban destinations.

Getting around Lyon 

To get to your event venue or explore the city, here are some helpful pointers to make your way around Lyon.

Lyon public transport (TCL)

Bus, metro, tramway or funicular: 1 single ticket for a single network! Lyon is a city that is very easy to visit on foot or by public transport. Take advantage of it!

Linking Lyon city centre to the airport in less than 30 minutes, the Rhônexpress tram shuttle service is  le moyen le plus sûr et le plus rapide.

Getting to the main convention and show venues

  • Lyon Convention Centre
    In the heart of the Cité Internationale complex, with a superb location bordering the city’s central Tête d'Or Park, the Lyon Convention Centre is easy to access by all transport modes.
  • Eurexpo Lyon
    Halfway between Lyon city centre and the Lyon-Saint-Exupéry airport and high-speed rail hub, Eurexpo Lyon is easy to access by all transport modes.
  • Halle Tony Garnier 
    In the Gerland neighbourhood of Lyon’s 7th district, the Halle Tony Garnier concert hall is easily accessible by public transport, bicycle and car

Getting around Lyon by bike

Great deals with the Lyon City Card

This is the must-have tourism pass to visit the city and travel throughout the metropolitan area, as it includes public transport!

With the Lyon City Card in your pocket, you can learn about art, history, science and technology at the Lyon metropolitan area’s various museums. The Musée des Confluences is an amazing place to fill up on culture during your stay. There’s also the Musée des Beaux Arts (Museum of Fine Arts) with its rich and varied collections, as well as those at the Contemporary Art Museum, right next to the Lyon Convention Centre. If you can’t make up your mind, remember that the Lyon City Card includes admission to all of Lyon’s museums (including their temporary exhibitions!), for 1, 2, 3 or 4 days, starting at €29. You may well be tempted to extend your stay!

Visit Lyon your way

Depending on your preferences and how much time you have, it’s good to know that there are many ways to discover the city: on foot; with a guided tour, as a group or alone with an app; by boat, bicycle or segway; and on a sightseeing bus. You could also opt for a food tour, a wine-tasting outing in the Beaujolais or the Côtes du Rhône, or even a treasure hunt. Bring back a souvenir from Lyon

Would you like to buy a gift before leaving Lyon? Make your way to the Presqu’ile district to browse the many luxury boutiques and trendy shops, or thes slopes of Croix-Rousse hill, which is dotted with workshops run by independent designers. 
Is food your thing? The indoor market Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse is the perfect place to find delicacies to delight your loved ones, including quenelle dumplings, cured meats like Lyonnais saucisson and Rosette de Lyon, praline tart, and Coussins de Lyon chocolates. 
The "Fabriqué à Lyon" (made in Lyon) quality label offers the guarantee of a local gift. Look out for the sticker in shop windows.

Treat your taste buds in Lyon

No visit to Lyon would be complete without a taste of the city’s gastronomic tradition, which owes its fame to the ‘Mères Lyonnaises’ (talented female cooks) and the late, great Paul Bocuse. Lyon’s food scene now boasts more than 4000 restaurants, fifteen of which hold Michelin stars. The only trouble is choosing! From fine restaurants to the famous local bouchons, home-made organic and veggie burgers, falafel and donut shops, as well as tea rooms and coffee shops (for those with a sweet tooth), Lyon is tasty from starter to dessert.
