The 2024 Olympic Games in Lyon
Home of Olympique Lyonnais, the Groupama Stadium in Décines-Charpieu is getting ready to vibrate to the rhythm of the Olympic Games. There will be 5 men's matches and 6 women's matches, including two mouth-watering games for the French women's team. The Argentinian team will also be in the stadium for two group matches, a chance to watch the future South American stars, and above all Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria, who are being tipped to make the Albiceleste squad.
Music and concerts in Lyon in July
July is the month for music festivals! While Fourvière hill is alive with the sound of music thanks to the 'Nuits de Fourvière' festival, there are many other outdoor concerts to choose from, including the ‘Jeudis des Musiques du Monde’ (world music Thursdays) at Jardin des Chartreux, the Summer Sessions at the Transbordeur, and the festival ‘Fêtes Escales’ in Vénissieux… And you can even make your way down to Vienne to enjoy the fantastic ‘Jazz à Vienne’!

Summer is an amazing season for cinema in the Lyon metropolitan area, with a series of film screenings beneath the stars! 'L'été en Cinémascope', is held annually by the Institut Lumière and there are many other outdoor screenings on offer, including the festival Cinéma sous les étoiles (cinema beneath the stars).

Each year in Lyon, summer is celebrated in fitting fashion in all parts of the city with the festival ‘Tout l'monde dehors !’ (everybody outdoors), which brings a host of free outdoor activities, including drama, cinema, music and even dance classes!
