The most popular locations – like Place Bellecour, certain sections of the banks of the Rhône and Saône, and the bridge of Guillotière – will be as busy as they are every year, but we have a few quieter spots to share with you.

In and around Lyon
- Place Rouville is a square located on the west side of the slopes of Croix-Rousse hill, in Lyon’s 1st district. It offers a splendid, unobstructed view of Part-Dieu and above all Fourvière, which is the focus of our attention. It is definitely a spot worth trying.
- Jardin de la Grande Côte is a terraced garden with nicely spaced rows of seating so you don’t have to worry about having your view blocked by the person in front. This is by no means an unknown spot and people like to come with their picnic in the early evening to grab a seat and enjoy the sunset before the show begins.
- The tip of the Confluence remains a fairly quiet spot on the evening of Bastille Day. It may be slightly out of the way, but what a setting! Your view will take in Fourvière, the Musée des Confluences and Raymond-Barre bridge.
In the Monts d’Or
What would you say to getting out of Lyon to enjoy a wide open view and avoid the crowds? Set course for the Monts d’Or! It’s worth remembering that Lyon is surrounded by many hills offering spectacular views. Don’t hesitate to leave the city and get the best of both worlds. You can begin with a nice stroll to digest your dinner, by leaving your car a short walk from the peak, and then settle down to enjoy the fireworks.
- Mont Cindre: located at Saint-Cyr-au-Mont-d'Or, this is the closest hill to Lyon city centre. It rises to a respectable height of 470 metres.
- Mont Verdun: a bit further away, this is the highest hill in the Lyon metropolitan area with an altitude of 626 metres.
- The belvedere on Mont Thou: finally, a little bit farther away still, this scenic viewpoint offers a breathtaking panoramic view in almost every direction. This means you can watch the fireworks going off all around!
From the Saône
Set off for a wonderful river cruise that will give you an exceptional view of the fireworks display!
Les Bateaux Lyonnais: there are moments in life that feel special. When you step on board the ‘Navilys’, this will almost certainly feel like one of them. Enjoy a one-hour river tour with commentary on the Saône, and watch the fireworks from Quai des Célestins with a glass in hand. You’re guaranteed a front-row seat! Book your place without delay.
