Lyon the way you like it

A land of football, rugby and basketball, each year Lyon attracts tens of thousands of spectators who come to watch a match. Whether you are an observer or a sportsperson yourself, here are our ideas for sports outings to do alone or with others!

Lyon, a land of sport

Lyon is synonymous with UNESCO heritage, gastronomy and even the silk industry. But it is also a land of sport that comes alive at every major sporting event. As a host city for football matches during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, a playing field for the 2023 Rugby World Cup and the Top 14 semi-finals in 2025, Lyon will be in the spotlight again in the future as it hosts the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Grand Prix tennis competition in 2026, the EPCR Challenge Cup finals in 2027, the Top 14 semi-finals in 2028 and the ice sports events for the 2030 Winter Olympics in the French Alps!

The city is also very well suited to running. Every year, thousands of runners sign up to take part in unmissable events such as the Run in Lyon, the SaintéLyon or the Lyon Urbain Trail races.
