1 - Expand your horizons at a museum

Lyon is paradise for culture vultures! Most museums stay open on Sunday, and their collections and exhibitions offer plenty to occupy a good part of the day. Looking for classical art, contemporary scenes or a workshop? You’ll find something for all tastes. What’s more, some museums are free on the first Sunday of the month.

2 - Take a stroll in the markets

Browse the flowers, fruit and veg, meat and fish, and produce from the local terroir on offer at Lyon's many markets. Make the most of the chance to stock up on good fresh produce for the week in a laid-back holiday atmosphere.

3 - Make the most of Lyon on the water

Fancy a change of scenery? Explore Lyon along one of its rivers. Whether you’re looking to dine on a boat, go sailing, or take a river cruise, the Rhône and Saône offer a whole range of options to choose from.

4 - Take a picnic

When the weather allows, enjoy lunch in the green surroundings of one of Lyon’s parks and gardens. Perfect for kids, family games and afternoon naps.

5 - Have a brunch

Sunday is a day to take it easy. For a laid-back feast, choose a nutritious and delicious brunch. And if you want to eat brunch like a local, you have to try the famous mâchon! Skip the Sunday lie-in and make your way to a bouchon (traditional local eatery) open from 9 AM on Sunday. Forget about croissants and hot chocolate; this is a serious meal.

6 - Take part in a Yoga session

Looking to unwind and recharge? Every Sunday, a Yoga session is held at the Mob Hotel, from 11 AM to 12:15 PM. It’s best to book to make sure you get a place.

7 - Visit the Puces du Canal flea market

Do you love hunting down a bargain? Take a stroll through the aisles of the Puces du Canal where you’ll find antiques, restored furniture, original objects, decorative items of all sorts, and clothes.

8 - Take the kids to a play area

Sunday is the perfect day to get some fresh air, and for your children to let off some steam! Visit one of the many play areas and parks accessible for little ones and suitable for the whole family.

9 - Do a spot of shopping

Because not everybody has the time to go shopping the rest of the week, you’ll find shops and retail spaces open on certain Sundays in Lyon

10 – Visit Lyon

Make the most of Sunday to (re)discover the city in a different light. Including iconic, unusual and food-related attractions, Lyon’s Tourist Office has a range of fascinating  guided tours to choose from. Other unguided tours are also available in Lyon.
