Whatever the season, Beaujolais is a must-see destination just a few miles from Lyon. Its rolling landscapes, colourful vineyards, golden stone villages and breathtaking panoramas make it a perfect place for a day out in the countryside.

Whether you prefer sport or the pleasures of the table, there are a thousand and one ways to discover the Beaujolais!

Beaujolais castles

While the Beaujolais is renowned for its landscapes, it is also famous for its sumptuous castles, some of which are listed historical monuments. Here are some you can visit to discover their history and wine cellars, and others where you can stay and enjoy a moment of relaxation in a spa:

Prolong the discovery of these monuments to exceptional architecture and history by following the “Route des Châteaux” or taking part in the “À table avec l’histoire” immersive experience until May 2026.

Excursions and tastings

Beaujolais is synonymous with wine. In this territory where vines have been cultivated for thousands of years, the discovery of the vineyard is a must. To do so, we strongly recommend that you go on a guided excursion or take part in a wine tasting!

Major events

Throughout the year, the Beaujolais is enlivened by colourful events (and grapes):

  • Bienvenue en Beaujonomie: a wine and bistronomic festival in June where we share a bistronomic meal around a large table at one of the wineries,
  • Les Vendanges musicales: the Beaujolais pop music festival, which takes place in September on the square of the Château de Charnay,
  • Vignobles en Scènes: an unmissable wine event featuring tastings, cellar visits, gastronomic evenings and entertainment for children and adults,
  • Beaujolais Days: the highlight of the year, organised every third Wednesday in November on the occasion of the release of the Beaujolais Nouveau. The five-day festival includes around 15 events including gourmet food markets, wine fairs and popular balls,
  • The Beaujolais marathon: a weekend of sport and celebration, the highlight of the Beaujolais Days, with several races and Beaujolais tastings along the way.
