Directed by Yaron Lifschitz and performed by twelve acrobats and four musicians, Revoir les étoiles takes its title from the final lines of Dante’s Inferno: after traversing the darkest depths, the poet emerges to see the stars once more. Here, this moment of rebirth becomes circus: fragile, luminous and introspective. On stage, hundreds of light bulbs depict a landscape in metamorphosis, shifting between constellation and vast playground for bodies that climb, tumble and soar through ropes, bars and aerial apparatus, standing out against the shimmering expanse. And it is from the Divine Comedy in its entirety that the show borrows its structure – Hell, Purgatory, Paradise – to explore the nature of optimism and hope in the midst of dark times.
