Throughout a show that is both funny and moving, Ronaldo father and son compete in daring to bridge the gap between past and present. Duel or duo?
Danny and Pepijn belong to the sixth and seventh generations of artists at Circus Ronaldo respectively. Sono io? initially portrays them as mismatched characters, not quite sure how to distinguish what unites them and what makes them alike. Mired in his past, the father is desperately searching for the emotions he once felt whilst living his life in the public eye. The son, meanwhile, attempts to reconcile his father’s world of traditional circus with the world around him, rich in promise and possibility. In a series of spectacular stunts that resemble a duel, the two clowns set out in search of a new path to follow together, drawing strength from their respective uniqueness.
