Zangbeto is a band formed in 2021, born from the meeting of three young rising talents on the Togolese music scene: Joachim Amouzou (piano), Honoré Dafo (bass) and Henoch Fafadji (drums).
The band’s name is inspired by Beninese culture: the Zangbeto masks—iconic figures from southern Benin—are believed to protect communities by driving away evil spirits of the night.
After a standout first appearance alongside singer Sabine Kouli at the 8th edition of Togoville Jazz, the band had the opportunity to join the prestigious JazzUp program of the Jazz Academy in Vienne, where they performed in 2023.
