Ti'kaniki invites Yewhe Yeton for a one-of-a-kind concert filled with the sounds of Réunion Island!
Come sing and dance around a kabar with the full Ti'kaniki band. As usual, a short concert will take place before the kabar, open to everyone, as a way to share and celebrate maloya together.
Ti’kaniki is a maloya group (traditional music from Réunion Island) based in Lyon. Active for more than 10 years, the band brings together Creole musicians and mainland French musicians from a wide range of backgrounds. They stand for a modern maloya, open to the world while staying deeply rooted in tradition. Since the beginning, the group has come together around kabars (open maloya sessions), where they have invited many artists from Réunion Island, such as René Lacaille, Davy Sicard, Maya Kamaty, as well as artists from other traditional music scenes from Africa, the Caribbean, and even Europe.
With several albums and international tours under their belt, the band is now well known in the maloya scene, including on Réunion Island itself.
Since 2023, Ti’kaniki has been working closely with singer Marsel Philéas, son of Granmoun Lélé and a major figure in maloya.
