Bon plan

Last updated date : 19/09/2025

The month of September is well underway already and the taste of summer is fading. To take a break from the day-to-day work routine, set aside some time for yourself to savour Lyon in autumn. And, to get the most out of your stay, get yourself a Lyon City Card – the Lyon Tourist Office’s official pass – which offers free admission and discounts for a wide range of activities. Here is our autumn selection.

A concert in stunning surroundings

If you love music and unique venues, don’t miss the performances given by Lyon Trinité Musique! In the Chapelle de la Trinité, a jewel of Baroque architecture with an exquisite interior featuring Carrara marble surfaces, trompe l'oeil effects and sculptures, get ready to enjoy a wonderful programme of live music ranging from baroque to unconventional pieces. With the Lyon City Card, you get a €5 discount on admission. To get there, you can take public transport (metro, tramway or bus) which is free with the pass.

A free exhibition at macLYON

Are you curious about new art trends? Then let yourself get wrapped up in Lyon’s museum of contemporary art. From the 19th of September, two new exhibitions will be opening their doors to the public: one by the prolific Canadian artists Rajni Perera and Marigold Santos, who are exhibiting in France for the first time; the other is a dual exhibition – Histoires personnelles / Réalités politiques (Personal stories / Political realities) – which opens a window to contemporary creation in the former Yugoslavia and art scenes around the globe. With the Lyon City Card, you can access one of the two exhibitions for free.

A free exhibition at Musée des Confluences

A few days before Halloween, on the 19th of October, another eagerly awaited exhibition will open in Lyon: ‘Zombies, the origins’ at Musée des Confluences. This fascinating exhibition will take you to Haiti on the trail of the myth’s origins, beyond the hordes of infectious walking corpses that populate movies and pop culture. Not only does it give you free admission, the Lyon City Card also provides fast-track queuing: a precious time-saver, particularly if you’re only staying in Lyon for a few days.

A day out in the vineyards

In this, the season of grape harvests, when the vines are slowly turning shades of ochre, make your way out to the Beaujolais region to take in the fresh country air and take part in a tasting workshop with Les Epicurieuses. Learn about the art of wine-and-chocolate pairing or the secret relationships between terroir and wine, guided by their passionate experts. You get 25% off the workshops with the Lyon City Card.
