Wheelchair-adapted circuits

Fancy visiting Lyon in a wheelchair without finding yourself stuck in front of a flight of stairs? The Lyon Tourist Office has conjured up three adapted routes, tested and approved specially for you (upgraded in 2026). You can visit the Presqu'île, Confluence or Vieux-Lyon (Old Lyon) - just download your chosen route below:

List of accessible courtyards and traboules in Vieux-Lyon

Traboules and courtyards are the unique hallmarks of Lyon's architecture. And to ensure that everyone can discover these secret narrow passageways between streets, the Tourist Office has compiled a list of accessible traboules just for you:

Important: you must be accompanied by a guide to enter the traboules.

  • 54 rue Saint-Jean: the "long traboule". CAUTION: after the two inner courtyards, the rest of the traboule is inaccessible due to the steps.
  • 27 rue Saint-Jean. CAUTION: it is not possible to exit the traboule at the other end, at 6 rue des Trois Maries, due to a large step.

Adapted guided tours

What better way to discover Lyon than with a guided tour? Here are the companies and associations that offer adapted guided tours through the Capital of the Gauls.

  • Some of the tours organised by the Lyon Tourist Office are also accessible to people with reduced mobility. However, the streets of Vieux-Lyon are paved with cobblestones which can be challenging to navigate. You are also strongly recommended to be accompanied.
  • Numerous food tours are accessible to persons with reduced mobility, such as the tours organised in the Halles Paul Bocuse indoor market hall. The Apéro Tour laid on by Lyon Food Tour can also be adapted for visually impaired individuals.
