Discover Lyon differently

Whether you are a passing tourist or a lifelong resident, see the city from a new angle by embarking on a different mode of transport:

  • The Lyon City Bus has one wheelchair space, allowing persons with reduced mobility to explore Lyon's must-see monuments while enjoying the anecdotes shared via the audio guide.
  • Embark on one of the Bateaux Lyonnais river boats and enjoy a river cruise of Lyon with optional dining experience. Some boats offer assisted wheelchair access. However, please check in advance by calling 04 78 42 96 81 to make sure the boat is suitable for you.

Dive into a fantasy universe

Eager to immerse yourself in a different dimension? Then visit one of these immersive and accessible venues for persons with reduced mobility:

  • Lyon Aquarium: spend a day in "Nemo's world" surrounded by a dazzling kaleidoscope of local and exotic fish. All sections are accessible to visitors with reduced mobility, who also benefit from a preferential rate. Guide or service dogs are also allowed in the building.
  • The Planetarium: escape into the vast expanse of space during one of the astronomy sessions. Guide dogs are accepted and the projection room has three spaces reserved for persons with reduced mobility. Call before your visit to check availability.
  • Mini World Lyon: see Lyon like you've never seen it before...in miniature! Other worlds await you too, such as the mini-version of the French Riviera or the world of dinosaurs with Jurassic Expo. The park is fully accessible to persons with disabilities, who enjoy a reduced entrance fee. Arriving early when there are fewer people around will help you move more seamlessly between exhibits.
  • Science Experiences: from the outer reaches of the universe to the ocean depths, dive into a captivating adventure along an immersive educational journey. The museum is accessible to persons with reduced mobility, except for the virtual reality machines which may prove more challenging to operate.

Atypical experiences

Looking for an unorthodox experience that is still accessible? Then opt for one of these fun and unique experiences: travel through space and time or plunge into a fantasy universe using augmented or virtual reality.

Some of the activities on offer at the Exalto facilities are also accessible to persons with reduced mobility, such as Game Side at Exalto Villeurbanne and 30% of the games on Prison Island at Exalto Décines.

Guided tours

Discover Lyon in a different and entertaining way by booking a guided tour in the hands of a knowledgeable local guide. Praline et Rosette and Lyon Food Tour are able to adapt their tours for persons with reduced mobility. Call them for more information.

Finally, discover the world of chocolate by taking a trip south of Lyon to visit the Valrhona Cité du Chocolat at Tain l'Hermitage. The museum, which was awarded the 'Tourism and Disability' label in 2015, offers a preferential rate, priority access and numerous facilities for persons with disabilities.
