Eglise Saint Nizier
Renaissance
Last updated date : 18/08/2026
Come visit this 14th-century church in the Flamboyant Gothic style, built on the site of a 2nd-century A.D. oratory—a place of worship for the early Christians of Lyon—in the heart of the Presqu’île, between the Saône and Rhône rivers.
18th- and 19th-century and contemporary sculptures and paintings, imbued with symbolism and
spirituality: Blessed Pauline Jaricot, Our Lady of Grace, Saint Nizier, and many others.
On the pillars, the Stations of the Cross painted by Bruno Desroche in 2020 captivates you with its vibrant relevance.
The CRYPT, covered in mosaics, preserves the memory of the martyrs of the early Christians, including Saint Pothinus and Saint Blandine.
