La Sucrière
Remarkable sites and monuments
Last updated date : 15/01/2021
Built in the 1930s along the river Saône, this 80-year old former warehouse has just been given a new lease of life in hosting Lyon's Biennial Contemporary Art festival (one of the biggest in Europe) and other shows as the Nuits Sonores.
Today, La Sucrière has been completely renovated and is one of the only historic buildings remaining in the Lyon Confluence area. As such, the building has become a flagship symbol of the district!
La Sucrière has 4 levels and has been designed to host art exhibitions and private or public events simultaneously by providing:
- The 1930 Area: 1 large room of 1700m², on the ground floor, overlooked by a mezzanine of 1100 m²
- The 1960 Area: 1 room of 600m², on the ground floor
- An exhibition area of 1700m² on level 2, exclusively devoted to artistic events that will programmed throughout the year.
