WorldSkills International leads the WorldSkills movement, which has more than 90 member countries. This movement promotes professions and vocational training for youth, while demonstrating the importance of skills to achieve economic and personal growth.
In September 2023, Lyon hosted the national trades competition organised by the member country WorldSkills France. Over the course of this three-day event, participants competed to join the France team, an entrant in the WorldSkills International Competition along with more than 60 other countries.
Held every two years, WorldSkills is the biggest event for excellence in vocational training and skills in the world, aimed at young people aged under 23 (or 26 for certain trades). 1500 participants from more than 65 countries will gather in Lyon to compete in 59 trades, ranging from personal care to mobile robotics, catering, digital technology and construction.
