Unbound by any constraints, New Yorker Kyle Abraham has freely developed a choreographic vocabulary that draws as much on classical and contemporary techniques as it does on urban culture. His dance is at once poetic and political, eclectic and socially engaged, rooted in African-American history. His work stems from improvisation and thrives on spontaneity, whilst remaining precise and intuitive. Having won over audiences at the Maison de la Danse on numerous occasions, notably with *Pavement*, he returns to present his new creation, *White Space*. The choreographer immerses his eleven performers in a unsettling yet stimulating world, set to a score by Jason Moran and Nico Muhly, two renowned composers, performed live by two pianists playing a single piano. Original and musical!
