A legendary figure in the world of breaking, the dancer, choreographer, writer and director Anne Nguyen has been exploring urban hip-hop dance in all its diversity and complexity for over twenty years. Her style, as powerful as it is refined, beautifully captures the themes underpinning these choreographic styles: multiculturalism, cultural appropriation and decolonialism. She brings together six virtuoso performers, representing, in turn, coupé décalé (Ivory Coast), mbolé (Cameroon) and ndombolo (Democratic Republic of the Congo) – dance forms that continue to influence Western hip hop to this day. A subtle, vibrant dance that reveals the reality of the world: both beautiful and brutal.
