SACRE, Daniel Larrieu’s latest creation, is coming to venues across the region this autumn to reach a diverse range of audiences. A leading figure in the New French Dance movement, Daniel Larrieu has steered clear of the established repertoire. Yet, as his career draws to a close, he is taking on a monumental work: Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring, subverting the expectations associated with this legendary piece. Here, there is no grand ballet or symphony orchestra, but a single dancer, embodying the full intensity of the piece. Sophie Billon delivers a gripping performance. SACRE will be performed in the Ain, Allier and Rhône departments, in a variety of settings, to offer as many people as possible an almost sacred experience, as powerful as it is poetic.
