The exhibition “Robert Doisneau: Instants donnés” in Lyon offers a remarkable journey through more than 400 photographs, allowing visitors to discover the work of this famous photographer!
The Robert Doisneau exhibition explores the major themes that run through the photographer’s work: childhood, artists’ studios, writers, bistros, the Vogue years, but also the harsh realities of the suburbs and the fragility of the human condition. Through photographs, rare documents, interactive installations, recordings, and audio testimonies, visitors are invited to discover the intimate connection between the artist and the worlds he experienced. “Robert Doisneau: Instants Donnés” is the largest retrospective dedicated to the photographer in nearly twenty years. Curated in collaboration with the Atelier Robert Doisneau, founded by his daughters Annette Doisneau and Francine Deroudille, the exhibition offers an in-depth and fresh perspective on the photographer’s work. Far from the simplistic image of a photographer nostalgic for the Paris of yesteryear, this retrospective highlights an artist deeply rooted in his time, an observer of society and human relationships.
