I left Brazil to study at the Institut Bocuse in Lyon, in 2002. Since then, I’ve adopted Lyon and Lyon has adopted me. We’re lucky to live here, the landscapes in Lyon are absolutely amazing, we have everything: water, sun and Tête d’Or Park, which I love! [...] I’m so proud of my city. I feel very positive about all the changes that have happened here. In 2002, Lyon was more focussed on the past; today, it cares for its heritage, but is really forward-looking, and that’s great to see! Tabata Mey

Ombellule and Brasserie Roseaux, two gourmet destinations

Nestled in Lyon’s 6th district, Ombellule is a Michelin-starred gastronomic restaurant headed up by the duo of chefs Tabata and Ludovic Mey. In an intimate setting, the chefs create a total experience where their personalities shine through. Ombellule is an integrated whole: a distinctive, exuberant and poetic cuisine, channelling heartfelt emotions; friendly service; and an interior combining Art Deco and contemporary inspirations. Each aspect – from the meticulously laid tables to the decor paying tribute to French know-how – has been given special attention to create an authentic, refined and captivating atmosphere. The restaurant’s unique identity goes hand in hand with the crafted experience. With a set tasting menu, and an à la carte menu for lunch and dinner, each individual can enjoy a complete gastronomic experience and a wonderful time above all.

Right next door, at 34 Cours Franklin Roosevelt, Brasserie Roseaux truly pays homage to French tradition in an elegant Art Deco interior. There, Chefs Tabata and Ludovic Mey offer generous, cuisine bourgeoise inspired by Auguste Escoffier, served by the tableside in front of diners. This gourmet restaurant with a warm ambiance has a large shaded terrace with capacity for 80 seats. With options like prime rib of beef, whole fish Meunière and Vol au Vents to share, the à la carte menu gives pride of place to great classics, along with the menu of the day for lunch. The wine menu offers a selection of more than 500 bottles and highlights the diversity of terroirs, focussing on the Rhône Valley, Beaujolais, Burgundy and Savoy. Open every day of the week, this is an authentic place to be experienced, which echoes all the charm of a French brasserie.
