Entre Rhône et Saône Festival
Seasonal festivities
Last updated date : 06/08/2024
On 28, 29 and 30 June 2024, some 300 events reveal the rivers from a historical, cultural, scientific, sports or ecological point of view. They’re organised across three main neighbourhoods, Confluence, Guillotière and Île Barbe by over a hundred local stakeholders: non-profits, artists, municipal cultural institutions, corporate patrons, and residents. There’s a vast programme, combining family-friendly, artistic and sports activities focusing on the theme of Lyon’s rivers.
Presentation of the Entre Rhône et Saône Festival
Every year since 2022, a major festival has been held in Lyon in late June: Entre Rhône et Saône. Over three days and three nights, Lyon locals and visitors alike are invited to (re)discover the city’s rivers.

Don’t miss:
- The return of Mâchecroute. This legendary dragon living in the waters of the Rhône in Lyon is getting a makeover in 2024. From Berges Karen Blixen, festival goers will be able to discover a brand-new interpretation of the local legend. A colossal 12m-high, 25m-long artistic work, accompanied this year by a giant turtle. Visible every day from 6.30 - 7 p.m.
- The big parade. On Saturday 29 June at 5 p.m., Lyon locals and festival goers are invited to form a joyful procession from Place des Terreaux to the Berges de la Guillotière, via Pont Wilson, accompanied by dancers, batucada players, marching bands and stilt walkers.
- Ondine à la Guill'. After the parade, take your seat for a banquet on Quai Augagneur. A giant picnic where everyone is invited to bring their hamper to dine and drink in good company: the Mâchecroute. Saturday 29 June from 5.30 - 10 p.m.
- Urban swimming, Sunday 30 June, at the Parc des Berges, subject to same-day water quality testing. Swimming area open to all from 10 y.o. but children must be accompanied by an adult.
- Drifting performance on the Saône Îles de paille, îles essentielles (i.e., straw islands, essential islands) by La Compagnie Ilotopie, heading off from Saint-Vincent footbridge, arriving downstream from Saint-Georges footbridge, Saturday 29 June 10.30 p.m.
- Open-air set by Folamour. Lyon native Folamour is celebrating his 10-year career with his ever-faithful local fanbase. Head down to Parc des Berges on Sunday 30 June from 3 - 10 p.m., free admission.
- Open-air cafés. In the evening, it’s time for some fairy lights, music and dancing. Lyon’s open-air cafés have been jazzed up from Darse de la Confluence, to Île Barbe and the banks of the Rhône. The programme includes events, concerts, and plenty of food and drink.
