A Tribute to the ethiopian composer Emahoy Tsegue-Maryam Guebrou
Maya Dunietz, her official interpreter, will perform this concert. She will perform solo renditions of published pieces as well as numerous unpublished works in her possession, including pieces for piano and voice sung in French, German, English, and Amharic.
The second part features Sosena Gebre Eyesus, one of the greatest performers of the begena. This large ten-stringed lyre is a sacred and royal instrument in the Ethiopian tradition.
