Mahler's grandiose Symphony No. 2 as you've never seen it before, illuminated by the sumptuous digital creations of video artist Étienne Guiol.

A monumental work composed at the end of the 19th century by Gustav Mahler, Symphony No. 2 takes an orchestra and voices through five movements, unfolding the Austrian composer's spiritual and metaphysical vision. Describing the tumultuous struggles to reach the light, it embraces the broad forms of a fresco full of contrasts. It is this tormented landscape that video artist Étienne Guiol invests and dresses with digital tools – video screens, light figures on the ground, mapping – which form a grammar patiently developed over 15 years. A pioneer and benchmark in video creation applied to live performance, Studio BK – which he co-founded in 2012 – dazzled the world with the visual design of the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. The creation he has devised with the Opéra de Lyon for Les Nuits de Fourvière promises to be a modern and sensitive sound and light show.
