PULSE explores the repertoire of ragas to open new perspectives on the interpretation of dhrupad: one of the oldest genres of North Indian classical music, characterized by pure, minimalist, and intensely spiritual vocal lines. Pelva Naïk is one of the few female voices keeping this tradition alive, which she takes, along with guitarist Reno Danio and percussionist Davy Sur, to new horizons at the crossroads of blues, folk, and experimental music.

Rooted in Indian tradition, PULSE's music explores sonic interludes where unexpected points of friction are revealed. Like the chaturangi, that marvelous instrument born from an unlikely encounter between Calcutta and Hawaii. Invented by Debashish Bhattacharya in the 1970s, this Hindustani slide guitar is an "Indianization" of the Hawaiian lap steel, which had fascinated Indian musicians since the 1930s with its sounds so close to the human voice. A disciple of Bhattacharya, Reno Danio is the only French virtuoso of this instrument.
