Halt in India
Rooted in Indian tradition, PULSE's music explores sonic interludes where unexpected points of friction are revealed. Like the chaturangi, that marvelous instrument born from an unlikely encounter between Calcutta and Hawaii. Invented by Debashish Bhattacharya in the 1970s, this Hindustani slide guitar is an "Indianization" of the Hawaiian lap steel, which had fascinated Indian musicians since the 1930s with its sounds so close to the human voice. A disciple of Bhattacharya, Reno Danio is the only French virtuoso of this instrument.
