She is a legend, one of the greatest contemporary pianists in the world. Trained at Soviet music schools, Elisabeth Leonskaja is more than a reference: she’s a classic. Iconic, exceptional… there are not enough superlatives to describe pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja, the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the International Classical Music Awards 2020. A Schubert aficionada, she performed a complete recording of his sonatas; she is back at the Lyon Opera with one of the composer’s masterpieces, as well as astonishingly demanding scores by Prokofiev and Shostakovich.

Sergei Prokofiev: Sarcasms, Op. 17
Dmitri Shostakovich: Piano Sonata No. 2, Op. 61
Franz Schubert: Piano Sonata No. 20, D. 959
