Last updated date : 20/09/2024

The Chaufferie de l'Antiquaille pays tribute to the most popular and controversial American artist of the 1960s with the exhibition ‘The world according to Andy Warhol’.

Site web
From 14 September 2024 to 15 January 2025, the Chaufferie de l'Antiquaille will be presenting fifty photographs carefully selected by curator David Lawrence. Lawrence has already produced a number of similar tributes to Marilyn Monroe and Pablo Picasso.

Andy Warhol, born Andrew Warhola on 6 August 1928 in Pittsburgh, is an iconic figure in twentieth-century art. His name instantly conjures up images of celebrities, Campbell's soup cans and Coca-Cola bottles, but his influence extends far beyond these icons. Warhol captured the essence of an era in upheaval, marked by the rise of mass media and consumer culture.

To understand his world, you have to immerse yourself in a world where art and everyday life merge, where celebrity is both revered and deconstructed, and where every everyday object can become a work of art.
