The German Film Festival invites you to four evenings of open-air cinema
Wednesday, 1 July, 9.30pm–11.30pm
Nosferatu (1922, horror film).
Set in 1838, the film follows notary’s clerk Hutter as he is sent to Transylvania to stay with Count Orlok, the vampire Nosferatu. Orlok terrorises a neighbouring village and spreads the plague, before attempting to seduce Ellen, his guest’s fiancée. However, the light of dawn proves fatal for him.
Ages 12 and over.
Thursday 2 July, 9.30pm – 11.30pm
Stiller, released in 2025.
Upon arriving at the Swiss border, James White is arrested and mistaken for the missing sculptor, Anatol Stiller. Despite his denials, a prosecutor attempts to confirm his identity with the help of Julika, Stiller’s wife. This is a gripping adaptation of Max Frisch’s novel that challenges our ideas about identity and truth.
In cooperation with the Swiss Consulate General in Lyon. Ages 12 and over.
Friday 3 July, 9.30pm–11.30pm
A German Childhood: Amrum Island, released in 2015.
Spring 1945: Nanning, aged 12, experiences the final days of the war on the German island of Amrum in the North Sea. Between night fishing and farm work, he witnesses the collapse of the ideology that has shaped his world. In his new film, Akin brings the poignant childhood story of his friend Hark Bohm to the screen.
Ages over 10 and over.
Saturday 4 July, 9.30pm–11.30pm: Peacock (released in 2024).
Matthias is 'for hire' as a cultured boyfriend, a perfect son or a marital disputes coach. However, when he has to be himself, he no longer knows which role to play. This debut film is brimming with black humour and is carried by a tremendous performance from lead actor Albrecht Schuch!
In cooperation with the Austrian Cultural Forum Paris.
