Watch the film Planet Ocean (2012). Through stunning aerial and underwater footage, the filmmakers take viewers on a journey to discover the world’s oceans and reflect on humanity’s place on our planet.
From the origins of life, evolution, migration and predation to the vibrant beauty of coral reefs and the mysteries of the deep sea, Planet Ocean first takes us into the hidden world of the oceans.
Then everything changes: humans appear and take control of this ocean planet. They develop fishing, set out to conquer the seas, discover oil and create a globalised world. Nothing will ever be the same again.
The film explores human vulnerability and the consequences of our way of life on the oceans that keep us alive. With a deeply humanist perspective, Yann Arthus-Bertrand and Michael Pitiot invite us to protect our oceans and take action to preserve their beauty and biodiversity.
