Malfroy: a silk house of excellence since 1939. Malfroy silk scarves tell a colourful story. Vivid, flamboyant and dazzling, these colours bring the materials to life through figurative, poetic and original motifs.
From the design process to the "French-style" rolled finish, Malfroy's creations are first and foremost of the highest quality, with a responsible manufacturing approach.
A family history
In 1939, André Malfroy and Jean Million, textile experts and manufacturers, founded their silk screen printing factory in Lyon. From 1945 onwards, the Malfroy family combined know-how, originality and materials, qualities that would make them a renowned company, both in France and internationally. From jacquard weaving to silk printing, from picture frames to digital printing, the Malfroy generations have always kept abreast of textile and printing innovations.
From father to son, we are first heirs and then ambassadors of exceptional expertise. Their contemporary vision of craftsmanship dusted off the silk square, and was the driving force behind a desire to extend their expertise to a wider range of materials, such as wool and cotton. A unique family trait that today sets them apart with their unique, high-quality creations, from Japan to North America, via the Silk Road of course.
Entrepreneurial spirit
A true player in French excellence, Malfroy also has the audacity to undertake and create stories that last over time.
From the outset, the company has printed its silk squares using the 'Lyonnaise' frame, a precision technique that consists of printing colour after colour to reveal the decoration on the fabric. In the 2000s, the company turned to digital printing, which brings the brilliance and subtlety of an infinite range of colours and ensures unquestionable sharpness; a colourimetric latitude that the company takes advantage of for the reproduction of works of art on silk, among other things. For decades, the company's design department created scarves for some of the world's leading luxury brands, including Givenchy, Guy Laroche, Moschino and Sonia Rykiel.
