An ode to multiculturalism and living together, the musical Les Dames du raï is a celebration that traces the birth of a genre, marked by resistance to oppression.
Far from clichés, Les Dames du raï tells the story of a music genre that emerged in 1930 in Algeria, in the Oran region. It was championed by daring women who embodied not only cultural resistance to colonial and social oppression, but also a disruption of norms that would inspire many generations. On stage, in a painted setting, singers Cheikha Hadjla and Fella Japonia are accompanied by five seasoned musicians. A festive show celebrating artists who dared to defy taboos and unspoken rules.
