In the darkness of night, the audience is invited on a wander through the heart of the Domaine de Lacroix-Laval, which – for the duration of the performance – evokes a Siberian forest in the Kamchatka mountains. It was there that the anthropologist Nastassja Martin was attacked by a bear in 2015. From the account of this encounter emerged a book that explores the connections between human and non-human worlds, now adapted by Les Arts Oseurs. Croire aux fauves plays with darkness, navigating the line between what we see or believe we have seen, hear or think we have heard. Voices, grand piano, soundscape and lighting all combine to create a sense of disorientation that draws each audience member closer to this coming-of-age story.
