Summer is here and the days are getting hot! To cool down, here is a snapshot of swimming pools in Greater Lyon and a few bathing spots in the surrounding area.
Pools in Lyon
The summer season is here and opening times are expanding!
- Centre Nautique Tony Bertrand: from 06 June until 1 September 2024.
- Piscine Municipale Jean Mermoz: open from 28 June to 30 August 2024.
- Piscine de la Duchère: from 07 June until 1 September 2024.
- Piscine Saint-Exupéry : open from 02 July to 30 August 2024.
- Piscine Tronchet : open from 03 June to 02 August 2024.
Note that this summer there will be no temporary swimming pool at either Parc de la Tête d'Or or Gerland... but there will be water games installed in the heart of the park to cool off.
Swimming pools in Lyon metropolitan area
Whether you live in Lyon or are visiting the city, swimming pools and water parks in the metropolitan area are open now for a refreshing dip!
- Centre Nautique Etienne-Gagnaire in Villeurbanne: open from 02 July to 1 September 2024..
- Centre Aquatique Les Vagues in Meyzieu: several pools, a lagoon, water jets and Jacuzzi. Swimming and aqua-gym classes (reservation required). Ages 3 and up. No reservation required.
- Centre Nautique Pierre Mendès-France in Saint-Priest: Summer opening times from 24 June to 30 August 2024, open every day from 10am to 2pm and from 2.30pm to 7pm. Access without reservation. Various activities on reservation.
- Centre Nautique André Sousi in Bron: Summer opening times from 1 July to 1 September 2024. 3 pools including 1 Olympic pool, relaxation areas. Numerous activities and courses available on reservation.
- Piscine Isabelle jouffroy in Caluire-et-Cuire: Summer opening times from 24 June to 1 September 2024. 1 sports pool, 1 leisure pool, 1 paddling pool, 2 saunas, 1 steam room, a 28m pentagliss and a cafeteria. Various activities on offer.
- Piscine Origami in Rillieux-La-Pape : open since 6 July 2024 to 01 September. 1 sports pool, 1 leisure pool, 1 activities pool, saunas, 1 hammam, 1 paddling pool and outdoors areas with playground and solarium. No reservation required.
Reminder: a bathing cap must be worn by everybody in Greater Lyon’s swimming pools.
Natural bathing spots less than an hour from Lyon
Grand Parc Miribel Jonage
With four supervised beaches and located only a few kilometres from Lyon city centre, this is a major bathing and leisure attraction for residents of Lyon and the metropolitan area. Plage de l'Atol has been open since 8 May 2024, Monday to Saturday (9am-9pm) and Sundays and public holidays (9am-8pm); Plage du Morlet has been open since 25 May until 08 September 2024, every day from 1pm to 7pm; Plage du Fontanil has been open since 1 June until 08 September (supervised swimming from 1pm to 7pm) and finally Plage de la Baraka will be open from 29 June until 08 September, with supervised swimming every day from 1pm to 7pm.
Access: take bus N80, N81, N82, N83, N84 towards Grand Parc Miribel Jonage. (from 29 June to 1 September 2024)
Lac de Bordelan in Villefranche-sur-Saône
Ce coin de nature convivial a de quoi séduire toute la famille avec sa plage de sable, sa grande pelouse et ses jeux pour enfants. Ouvert du 1er juillet au 31 août.
Prices: €3,50 for adults, €2 for 6-12 year-olds, free for children under 6.
Access: TER train, 115 and 118 bus or A6 motorway, towards Villefranche-sur-Saône and then Route de Saint-Bernard.
L’étang de Fallavier in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier
A protected natural area since 2007, this is a multi-faceted spot for bathing and walking. Open from 2 July to 28 August.
Free. Access: TER train towards Saint-André-le-Gaz or A6 motorway, towards Grenoble.
