Guided tours Croix-Rousse
Tour proposed by Lyon tourisme et Congrès

Explore the 'traboules' alleyways and visit the last workshop of weavers in Croix-Rousse - preserved by the Silk Association..

Stroll through the Traboules to discover the history of the "canuts", the silk workers of Lyon in the 19th century.

Beginning in Boulevard de la Croix-Rousse, walk down the hill slopes through the buildings: these secret passages and staircases are full of history, which will blow your mind.

Discover the silk-workers’ daily life by visiting a real weavers’ workshop kept going by the Living Silk-work Association with its kitchen, its attic
and its mechanical looms.

The walk continues through the alleyways to the Place des Terreaux.

This visit is a must for anyone wanting information on Lyonnais tradition and history.

Studied fate!

It's hardly a whim of fate if Lyon is the capital of silk. In 1466, Louis XI decided to relocate this industry in Lyon, an economically strategic city close to Italy, its main supplier of silk worms!
