Little Peter and the magical printing presses

"Our story begins in the time of King Francis I.
Little Peter was an orphan who loved looking at the stars and knew all the constellations by heart. One day, he heard the young Louise Labbé talking about Copernicus' discoveries and decided that he had to find out more. A mysterious magical book came to his aid, but he had to deal with the tricks of the wicked Master Nicolas."

Follow the storyteller-guide through the traboules* of Vieux-Lyon as they recount Little Peter’s incredible adventure, and his thirst for science.
This adventure gives you the opportunity to discover this magical quarter, as well as Renaissance Lyon and the famous faces who lived in the city in the 16th century.
A thrilling journey back into the past!

The story is fictional, but based on known historical events, and includes real historical characters. This tour is recommended for children from 6 to 12 years old, and their parents too!

The black teeth industry

At the end of the 15th century, Lyon was the third largest printing capital in Europe. “Black teeth” was the name given to the lead letters used in the Gutenberg presses in the workshops on Rue Mercière and along the banks of the Saône.
