Lyon from the water
On leaving the Confluence Marina, hire your boat without a permit (very easy to operate) with Cap Confluent and you will sail up the Saône. Following a quick briefing on the navigation rules and the boat’s controls, you will be able to discover Lyon from the water, using your presentation booklet.
Sail past Fourvière Hill and Old Lyon, Croix-Rousse, Vaise and the Ile Barbe. Continue North as far as the Ile Roy, another small island, which is less developed and a sanctuary for numerous beavers.
Perfect for a picnic and covering a large stretch of the Saône as far as Mont d’Or, before turning back at the Couzon-au-Mont-d’Or dam and returning to the Confluence.

Île Barbe
Insula Barbara (Barbarian's Island) on the Saône was formerly inhabited by druids and Christians. An abbey was founded there during the 5th century BC. It is now a very pleasant place to take a stroll in a green and leafy medieval setting.
